About Steve Monroe
Steve Monroe is a skilled coach, a dynamic keynote speaker, a down-to-earth workshop
facilitator and meeting moderator -- and a warm accepting human being. His open and
friendly presence, coupled with a wealth of experience, creative a positive influence
on all who interact with him. His first book, released in 2001 from Home Builder
Press, was entitled Selling to Builders. Released in February 2007, Selling to Builders
2 is an up-to-date guide devoted to assisting associates in developing and strengthening
their relationships with builders.
Steve has been actively involved in five local
and two state builder associations beginning in 1973. He has served on boards of
four locals and has held committee chairmanships with Membership, Scholarship, House,
Public Relations, Sales and Marketing Council, Remodelors Council, and Associate
Council. He has been an officer in four local associations: Lexington, KY (Secretary),
Greater Chicago (Vice-President), Greensboro, NC (Secretary, Associate Vice-President),
High Point (Associate Vice-President). Steve is currently on the board of the North
Carolina Builders Association.
Steve walked away from a promising career with a Fortune
Ten company to look for life beyond the boardroom. Along this journey, he has stumbled,
been tripped and pushed,
but has never wavered from his quest. Steve keeps abreast
of trends and tendencies in American business and society. Since 1983, when promoted
from sales to management, he has accumulated valuable experience at the field and
branch level, with particular emphasis on sales training, marketing and creative
thinking skills.
A native of Kentucky, Steve has undergraduate degrees from Southeastern
Christian and Georgetown College. With a lifelong commitment to learning, Steve has
continued his education with a variety of workshops in related fields, including
completing a Masters Degree in Counselling.
With a strong dedication to the community,
you will find Steve volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and his local church.
Steve and his wife Louise are the proud parents of six children and four grandchildren
in their blended family. Steve enjoys golf, hiking, reading and writing.
Steve carries
his education and life experiences into his upbeat and positive messages. His presentations
are generously sprinkled with humour, which will leave your group with a lighter
load as they continue on their own pilgrimage.
